In a statement released on Friday, Okiye condemned those responsible for spreading these baseless allegations, warning them to cease their smear campaign intended to tarnish his image ahead of the Edo 2024 governorship election.

The former Speaker expressed his deep dismay over the false reports, labeling them not only as embarrassing but also as outright lies from the pit of hell.

He vehemently denied any involvement with a cult group throughout his extensive career in public office, which started in 2003 as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, followed by roles as majority Leader, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Governor Liaison to the Edo State House of Assembly, culminating in his tenure as Speaker.

Okiye firmly stated that the trending report was a malicious and false statement aimed at damaging his reputation and hindering his 2024 governorship ambition.

He demanded an immediate retraction of the defamatory publication within seven days by those responsible, warning them of the legal consequences if they fail to comply.
