The late Dr. Surty was renowned for his compassionate nature and was considered a family friend by many. He was a leading figure in prayers at both the Birmingham Central Mosque and The University of Birmingham Mosque, where he also served as a Professor.
In Nigeria, he was known as the presenter of the popular TV program, ‘The Light of Islam,’ and was a familiar face on Sokoto TV during the 1980s.
To honor his memory, a Janazah prayer will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 1:45 pm at the Birmingham Central Mosque, located at 180 Belgrave Middleway, United Kingdom.
The burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Handsworth Cemetery, situated on Oxhill Rd in Handsworth, Birmingham.
