In a surprising development, members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider them in his ongoing government appointments. Shockingly, the cattle breeders disclosed their willingness to take on even the most menial roles, such as serving as cleaners at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.

The call was made public by the Southeast Zonal Leader of MACBAN, Alhaji Gidado Siddikki. He argued that the cattle breeders had been instrumental in President Tinubu’s election victory, noting that they voted for him en masse during the February 25 Presidential elections.

According to Siddikki, “We are demanding for appointments from Tinubu’s government. Even if it is as office sweepers, we are okay with it. All we want is for us to be part of the government at the centre.”

The MACBAN leader emphasized that his group had thrown their weight behind President Tinubu based on an endorsement from his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari. In his words, “During the election, to my knowledge, my people voted for President Tinubu because his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari, told my people to vote for him and they all did so.”

In addition to these appointments, Siddikki also called on the government to pay more attention to the livestock sector. He warned that without adequate funding, the livestock sector could face serious challenges, potentially leading to its decline.

It remains to be seen how the presidency will respond to this unusual request. The inclusion of MACBAN members in government positions would indeed be an unprecedented development in Nigerian politics.
