In a statement by the director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, Hon. Ikeagwunu commended the COAS for the steps taken to address security challenges and ensure peace and stability in the nation.
He assured the COAS of the committee’s willingness to collaborate with the Army in safeguarding national economic interests and territorial integrity.
The COAS, in response, thanked the committee members for their visit and their confidence in the Army’s capability to restore order in troubled areas of the country. Gen.
Lagbaja assured the committee that all troubled areas were being closely monitored and addressed with both kinetic and non-kinetic operations to maintain national security.
Furthermore, he expressed the Army’s readiness to partner with the legislature and other stakeholders in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
