EFCC Responds To NBA Ilorin Branch’s Allegations, Defends Detention Of Member For Tampering With Evidence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has addressed the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin Branch’s concerns, stating that the branch is opposed to the EFCC due to the detention of their member for allegedly tampering with a suspect’s statement under investigation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren expressed the commission’s disappointment at the NBA Ilorin Branch’s decision to launch a media attack against the command and its leadership while one of its members, Suleiman Toyin Yahaya, was being detained for the said offense….CONTINUE READING

 

The EFCC emphasized that the detention was a valid action carried out with a remand order and that the member was subsequently released following a counter order of the court.

The commission also pointed out that legal representation of suspects is not within its jurisdiction, and it does not condone unprofessional conduct by its personnel. While willing to investigate any allegations of such conduct, the EFCC requires concrete proof to act accordingly.

Furthermore, the EFCC stressed that it operates within the ambit of the law and maintains that no laws have been violated in its operations in Ilorin.
