The governor’s spokesperson, Crusoe Osagie, on behalf of Obaseki, expressed the governor’s refusal to support Shaibu’s gubernatorial aspirations at this time.
Osagie emphasized that engaging in intense political activities currently would serve as a distraction and not be in the best interest of the people of Edo State.
Osagie labeled Shaibu as a troublemaker, accusing him of escalating matters by attempting to create a crisis. He noted that despite Shaibu portraying himself as a loyal deputy, the reality does not align with this image.
Osagie further mentioned that Governor Obaseki’s approach of civil discourse in his relationship with his deputy might be misconstrued as weakness, particularly in a society where such a gesture could be exploited.
