Ethnic Youth Leaders (EYL) have alleged that certain unscrupulous political figures, determined to hinder President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, are responsible for orchestrated media assaults on his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and other crucial government appointees.
Last week, Segun Sowunmi, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member from Ogun State, voiced his opinion that President Tinubu should have selected former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola or former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun as Chief of Staff instead of Gbajabiamila. In response, the Ethnic Youth Leaders, an amalgamation of socio-cultural groups spanning various regions of the country, issued a joint statement signed by their leaders Odoemena Alexander, Patrick Obieri, Ojukwu Celestine, and Yusuf Tijani. The statement criticized Sowunmi, categorizing him as one of those aiming to obstruct the President’s agenda.
A specific affiliate of EYL, Arewa Youths, endorsed President Tinubu’s selection of Hon. Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, asserting that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives possesses the requisite qualities and will contribute significantly to realizing Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.
The EYL declared, “Certain unscrupulous political elites, driven by the intent to derail President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, are orchestrating deliberate media assaults on his Chief of Staff, Hon.
Femi Gbajabiamila, and other key appointees. Sowunmi’s statement is unnecessary and undermines the capacity, competence, and achievements of the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.”
