Governor Umo Eno disclosed this development during the recent Government House Prayer meeting held at the Latter House Chapel, located in the Governor’s Lodge in Uyo, the capital of the state. The governor acknowledged the delay in project execution, attributing it to bureaucratic hurdles.

He explained that the State Executive Council (SEC) and the Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC) still needed to be constituted for the approval of expenditures related to the projects.

Governor Eno emphasized his commitment to adhering to procedural guidelines and laws while avoiding circumvention that could lead to legal consequences. He stressed his intention to maintain transparency and respect for the State House of Assembly.

The governor recounted his earlier personal inspection of erosion sites, where he witnessed houses at risk of collapsing due to the erosion.

To address this pressing issue, he reiterated the government’s decision to ban the unauthorized borrow pit business, which contributes to erosion-related risks. Governor Eno urged the Ministry of Environment to enforce the ban strictly.

Governor Eno also announced the upcoming launch of road projects, explaining that the delay in their commencement was due to the budgetary requirements surpassing his individual approval authority as the governor.
