In the widely-circulated video, the alleged ESN member, after interrogating the captive identified as Abioye Oladeji, states: “We spared the driver because he’s Igbo, but you’re Yoruba. Tinubu is your brother, goodbye” (translated to English).

Omokri was particularly impressed by the captive’s refusal to disown his ethnicity despite the life-threatening situation he found himself in. He lauded the captive’s courage, saying, “Even amidst the heartbreak of that video, the young man’s refusal to deny his Yoruba heritage stood out to me. It was this same brand of bravery that made me champion the #FreeLeahSharibu cause after Leah chose not to deny Christ in front of Boko Haram.”

He added, “Abioye Oladeji has definitively shattered the false stereotype that paints Yorubas as timid traitors. His bravery is reminiscent of Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, who stood firm, refusing to betray Major General Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi to the mutinous soldiers, and chose to share his fate instead. I fervently hope this man, Abioye Oladeji, survived. If anyone has updates on his fate, please come forward. Regardless of the outcome, he has cemented his place as a true Nigerian hero!”
