The conflict arose after a heated on-air exchange between the two regarding Omokri’s assertion that he visited Chicago State University to verify President Tinubu’s alumni status.
Revisiting this situation recently, Omokri has directed his comments towards Arise TV and Oseni, urging them to provide the purported subpoena that stated the university had denied Tinubu’s alumni status. Omokri has further demanded a public apology from both the news station and Oseni.
In a series of Twitter posts, Omokri expressed his position: “I adhere to the philosophy of Obasanjo’s school of thought: never seek out trouble. However, if someone seeks to provoke trouble with you, address the situation at a time and place of your choosing.”
He questioned Arise TV’s stance, highlighting that Chicago State University has now confirmed his claims made during an interview on their station, which had prompted Oseni to label him a liar. Omokri challenged the journalistic integrity of reporting falsehoods to the public and labeling them as news.
Omokri further challenged Arise TV and Oseni to present the supposed subpoena that Oseni claimed Chicago State University had used to deny Tinubu’s alumni status.
He demanded public apologies for the reputational damage that arose from the interview and asked when Oseni would address the alleged recorded death threats made against him.
Asserting his stance, Omokri emphasized, “I will not take this lightly, and I maintain meticulous records with the memory of an elephant.”
