New Road Project To Cut Lagos-Abuja Travel Time To Four Hours Unveiled By President Tinubu’s Government

During a meeting with Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Works Dave Umahi unveiled this development as part of his visit to the state.

He made this announcement in a statement released by his ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Blessing Lere-Adams, on Friday. Umahi mentioned that the project would be implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

“We had a presentation on it yesterday with the consultant, and it’s going to be on Public Private Partnership (PPP). Driving from Lagos to Abuja will take four hours; we are concluding on it. Within one or two months, work will start,” the minister disclosed.

Umahi also highlighted the Highway Development Management Initiative (HDMI), a program that allows states and private investors to collaborate with the federal government.

They can either take over an already constructed road for tolling and maintenance in partnership with the government or reconstruct a new road and toll it, adhering to established agreements.
