“After completing the investigation, it was determined that the entire incident was a deliberate act by two pump attendants at one of the Oando outlets recently acquired by NNPC (not an NNPC Mega Station) in Port Harcourt,” he explained.

These alleged pump attendants had engaged in fraudulent activities, cheating both the management and customers of the station by providing less fuel than paid for.

Dimkpa also mentioned that the management of the implicated station had terminated the employment of the offenders.

He further stated that the union would intensify its surveillance efforts, focusing particularly on the activities of pump attendants to prevent dishonest employees from deceiving customers and undermining the reputation of their stations.

Dimkpa expressed satisfaction with the swift interventions of the state government, the Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, and the Nigerian Police in addressing the issue.

He assured the public that the station owner had no involvement in the anomalies, especially since the individuals responsible had been dismissed by the station’s management.

Meanwhile, an anonymous staff member at the alleged NNPC outlet denied the allegations and attributed the irregularities to faulty pump nozzles on the dispensers. However, the staff member confirmed the dismissal of those implicated.

It’s worth noting that some customers have called for stricter penalties for retail stations found in violation of operational regulations.
