He revealed that the book’s content spans the period from January 2022 to August 2023, encompassing the tenure during which party leaders had to overcome challenges posed by the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), led by Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe state, to prevent the national convention of the party from taking place.
The publication also delves into the internal competitions within the APC to select the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, ultimately leading to the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s presidential nominee.
Lukman’s statement explained, “I had the privilege of meeting with His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC National Chairman, on Wednesday to discuss the challenges facing our great party.
This marks our first meeting since his election on August 4, 2023. A significant focus of our discussion was the forthcoming publication, ‘APC and Transition Politics,’ which compiles contributions made to the debate on reforming the APC to align with its original vision of becoming a progressive party in Nigeria.
“Given recent developments within the APC leading to Ganduje’s election as the National Chairman of our esteemed party, it became imperative to publish these contributions, which testify to the consistent support provided for the emergence of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s Presidential candidate and the party’s victory in the 2023 Presidential elections.
The publication, ‘APC and Transition Politics,’ is currently undergoing editing and is expected to be completed by the end of September.”
