He emphasized that the Federal Government is committed to taking decisive action against those responsible for such misconduct.

The Minister delivered this warning in his office in Abuja while receiving the report concerning alleged sexual harassment by Professor Cyril O.

Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Calabar. He stressed that sexual harassment is a grave criminal offense that must be addressed firmly whenever and wherever it happens.

The Federal Ministry of Education is dedicated to curbing this issue within the nation’s higher education institutions.

Professor Mamman acknowledged that sexual harassment is a pervasive problem that needs to be eradicated at all costs, and he called for collective efforts to combat it within the educational system.

He further affirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups within the country’s educational system.

The Minister assured that he will use legal means to ensure that wrongdoers face appropriate consequences, and no one will be allowed to exploit vulnerable individuals.

Additionally, he disclosed plans to establish sexual offenses units within the Ministry and across all higher education institutions to effectively address this problem.

During the presentation of the report, Professor Florence Banku Obi, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, informed the Minister that the university had followed proper procedures in addressing the matter.

This included the suspension of the accused, issuing relevant inquiries, and establishing a disciplinary committee to hear from all involved parties.
