They are required to promptly mobilize their personnel and equipment to resume work on the construction sites. Failure to comply with this directive and meet the specified deadline may result in the termination of their contracts, with replacement by alternative contractors.
During a meeting in Abuja with all federal road contractors, Umahi emphasized the importance of adhering to the government’s plan to adopt concrete technology for road construction rather than relying on asphalt. He cited an example of President’s use of concrete technology in constructing a road in Lagos.
Umahi highlighted the need for concrete roads, stressing the importance of guaranteeing the quality and durability of asphalt roads.
He specified that construction equipment, including two graders, four excavators, 20 trailers, and other necessary machinery, should be made available at a minimum interval of every 30 kilometers to facilitate active site operations. The objective is to ensure that Nigerians can benefit from high-quality road infrastructure.
