The tribunal’s ruling was based on its judgment that the petition lacked merit due to the PDP candidate’s inability to substantiate all the claims in the petition.

Following this, Atiku submitted a notice of appeal containing 35 grounds to the Supreme Court on September 18, 2023. In his appeal, he requested the court to overturn the entire findings and conclusions of the tribunal.

In response to these developments, Bola Tinubu filed a counter-request with the Supreme Court, urging the dismissal of Atiku’s appeal against the presidential election tribunal’s ruling.

Tinubu argued that the appeal lacks merit and is characterized by an abusive nature. He contended that the appellants failed to adequately support their allegations and arguments as presented during the tribunal proceedings.

In light of these events, Ahmad, in a post shared on his social media account, commended President Bola Tinubu for his request to the Supreme Court.

Ahmad acknowledged that the President’s request to dismiss the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who are challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election, is highly commendable.

Ahmad emphasized that the appeal was considered “abusive” and argued that the appellants did not provide sufficient evidence to support their allegations and arguments made during the tribunal.
