🌾 Agriculture and Flood Relief: Governor Hyacinth Alia emphasized the importance of understanding the unique challenges each state faces. In Benue State, 2022 saw devastating floods that wiped out farms, affecting rice, cassava, corn, beans, and more. Palliatives provided relief to farmers, market women, and school children, ensuring food security and encouraging agricultural productivity.

🕊️ Peace and Security: The Governor expressed gratitude for the improved security situation in Benue State. The government aims to return all internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes and farmlands. While significant progress has been made, challenges remain. The governor remains committed to achieving this goal with the support of the federal government.

💰 Debt Restructuring: Benue State grappled with an overwhelming debt burden surpassing 359 billion naira, encompassing unpaid salaries, gratuities, and a mixture of foreign and domestic debts. Governor Hyacinth Alia has launched proactive efforts to restructure these debts, aiming to enhance the state’s readiness for development. His commitment to addressing the backlog of workers’ and pensioners’ salaries is evident, ensuring that salaries are disbursed like clockwork on the 25th of each month.

📚 Education and Healthcare: The government celebrated its 100-day milestone with initiatives to support students and medical professionals. Governor Hyacinth Alia is committed to retaining medical graduates in the state by offering incentives, including mandatory two-year service in state hospitals. Similar incentives are provided for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, encouraging them to work and serve in the state.

🏙 Infrastructure and Community Safety:The Governor  highlighted the state’s efforts to improve infrastructure, such as streetlights and road construction. He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in security, promoting peace and understanding among various stakeholders.

🌱 Agriculture and Ranching: Regarding the Vice President’s statement on ranching, Governor Hyacinth Alia stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and the potential for diversified agriculture, including the production of fodder for livestock.

Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed his gratitude for the federal government’s assistance, thanking the FG for issuing contracts to begin restoration work on all federal roads in the state and reiterating his commitment to restoring peace, development, and prosperity to Benue State.
