Earlier reports had indicated that Anyanwu, also known as “Sam Daddy,” had been removed from his role as the party’s national secretary to enable him to concentrate on his gubernatorial campaign.
In a statement released on Friday night by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP clarified that Anyanwu’s position remains unchanged.
The NWC rejected the report as false and emphasized that it had not taken any action to remove or consider removing Anyanwu from his position.
The statement reads, in part: “The NWC states and cautions that no matter how strongly an individual or group feels about an issue, resorting to fabrications, lies, and claiming a non-existent decision by the NWC is highly condemnable.”
The PDP urged Nigerians, particularly its members and supporters in Imo State, to disregard the false claims, confirming that Senator Anyanwu remains the National Secretary and the party’s candidate in the November 11, 2023, gubernatorial election in Imo State.
The NWC encouraged the PDP in Imo State to maintain unity, focus, vigilance, and continue to resist any efforts to disrupt the party’s progress on the path to victory in the upcoming election.
