Femi Fani-Kayode, a notable member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized these remarks in response.
Fani-Kayode expressed his disapproval while denouncing the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, for hosting the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria and intending to collaborate with Israel on security matters in Abuja.
In an audio recording shared via his X handle on Sunday, he stressed that Christians in Nigeria would not submit to anyone, just as rational and reasonable Muslims would not heed Gumi’s divisive rhetoric.
The APC chieftain also reminded Gumi of his father’s passing shortly after vowing not to witness a Christian assuming the presidency of Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode emphasized that Gumi should cease pointing fingers at the Christian community and acknowledge the existence of many millions of God-fearing Muslims throughout the country, both in the North and South.
He clarified, “I am not overly concerned about the government’s handling of this individual’s outbursts, as there are government officials tasked with responding to him, and I am not part of the government.”
