Osi Braimah, the Director of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), made this announcement while addressing reporters during the dismantling of makeshift stores within the market.

“The clearance of shanties and unauthorized settlements in Area 11 and other parts of the city is aimed at addressing the prevailing security challenges faced by residents.

“This is an ongoing operation conducted by various FCT agencies. AEPB has received a directive from the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to intensify the demolition of all shanties, unauthorized settlements, and informal camps within the FCT.

“We have been engaged in this endeavor for some time, and this increased effort is primarily intended to enhance urban hygiene and address the related issue of insecurity,” he explained.
