He regarded this loss as not only significant for the traditional institution in the nation but also as a loss for humanity and the academic community.

The late King Princewill, a Professor of Microbiology and former chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, is scheduled to be laid to rest on November 29 and November 30, 2023.

During a visit by the central burial committee for the funeral to Jonathan’s residence in Port Harcourt, the former president referred to the late traditional ruler as a ‘king among kings’ and recollected their shared experience during their university days when Princewill was first appointed as a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt.

Jonathan offered his support to ensure the successful burial and extended his condolences to the family and the entire Kalabari Kingdom over the loss.

Prince Tonye Princewill, the committee’s chairman, emphasized the significance of the visit to Jonathan, as he is the highest-ranking son of the Niger Delta and a former student of the University of Port Harcourt, underscoring that mere letters would not suffice.
