The meeting, originally set for Monday at the request of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, aimed to assess the progress in implementing the 15-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both parties in October 2023.
Although the reason for the rescheduling was not provided, the organized labor, during a Sunday briefing, had threatened to boycott any meeting attended by the Minister of Labor and Employment, Simon Lalong.
The labor union had raised the possibility of a new strike, accusing Minister Simon Lalong of breaching item 6 of the MoU and the ratified agreement by taking sides in addressing the leadership crisis within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Minister Lalong has since refuted these allegations, describing them as baseless.
