During the commissioning at the project site on Bank Road, Ado Ekiti, Oyebanji emphasized the positive impact of the IPP in addressing power challenges faced by residents and businesses, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life for the people of the state.
This inauguration follows the recent commissioning of electricity projects in communities across four local government areas that had been without power supply for over a decade.
Governor Oyebanji referred to the IPP as a game-changer, highlighting its role in achieving self-sufficiency in power supply and fostering rapid industrial development through increased economic activities and employment opportunities.
Emphasizing the importance of the project in meeting the state’s growing energy demands and reducing reliance on the national grid, Oyebanji detailed various measures taken by his administration to address the issue of erratic power supply in Ekiti.
These measures include rehabilitating and reconnecting power lines, extending electricity to key zones, and adopting solar lamps to enhance commercial hours in the state capital.
Commending Fenchurch Power Limited for the timely completion of the project, Oyebanji encouraged power sector investors to explore opportunities in Ekiti, particularly meter vendors who can leverage the electricity law supporting independent meter vendors.
The governor urged residents to view electrical facilities as communal assets, emphasizing the need to safeguard them against vandalism.
He pledged relentless efforts to ensure abundant energy supply, considering it the cornerstone of industrialization in the state.
