Olukoyede asserted a refocused anti-corruption mandate aimed at promoting growth and development across all sectors of the economy. He declared an intention to make it challenging for those engaging in corrupt practices, plug loopholes, and collaborate with financial gatekeepers to track released funds.
“We are going to give sleepless nights to those stealing our money. We are going to remove opportunities for corruption. We are in the era of a new budget. We have sent words to all the gatekeepers of our finances in Nigeria that we are going to work with them. Every money that is released, we are going to track them,” Olukoyede stated.
Expressing a commitment to the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day theme, he emphasized the need for global cooperation to combat corruption. Olukoyede announced plans to approach the international community for the recovery of stolen funds kept abroad, asserting that those holding looted funds abroad are more corrupt.
The statement reported that the road walk took place in all fourteen zonal commands of the EFCC, with the Abuja Zonal Command’s event in the Wuse district witnessing significant turnout from Nigerians, including EFCC staff, civil society organizations, representatives of the Nigerian Labour Congress, police, armed forces, National Youth Service Corps, women’s groups, media, and other stakeholders.
