Under the banner of the Concerned Northern Forum, lawyers have declared their intention to initiate legal proceedings against the Federal Government, seeking adequate compensation for the victims of the military airstrikes that devastated Tudun Biri in Kaduna State. Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the Northern Lawyers Forum, emphasized the forum’s commitment to ensuring justice for families grappling with irreparable loss due to the unfortunate event. Addressing the media in Kaduna on Saturday, Nafi’u urged the Federal Government to promptly undertake a thorough and independent investigation into the incident.
He stressed the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions and implementing measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Additionally, Nafi’u called on the Nigerian Army to reassess its rules of engagement and training procedures to avoid the loss of innocent lives during military operations. He underscored the need for the military to exercise utmost caution to prevent further instances of collateral damage and civilian casualties.
Expressing condolences to the grieving families, the forum, comprising over 600 members, pledged unwavering support in the pursuit of justice. Nafi’u affirmed the forum’s dedication to employing legal avenues to secure the compensation owed to the victims.
“The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum will tirelessly work to claim the compensation rightfully owed to the victims,” he declared.
