The world’s premier association for security professionals, ASIS International, emphasizes the importance of cutting-edge ideas, best practices, and technological advancements in addressing insecurity, according to Mr. Edward Orim, Chairman of ASIS Abuja Branch 273. Speaking during the association’s 2023 Annual General Meeting and Awards Night in Abuja, Orim highlighted the chapter’s commitment to providing a platform for members and security stakeholders to generate innovative technologies, ideas, and best practices to combat insecurity in Nigeria.

ASIS, recognized as an industrial security organization, expressed openness to collaboration with government agencies, particularly the National Security Adviser’s office. Orim reiterated ASIS International’s dedication to advancing security professionalism by fostering partnerships among leaders, experts, and security professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Reflecting on the chapter’s achievements, Orim highlighted the successful hosting of the Sub-Saharan African Conference in Abuja, positioning ASIS Abuja prominently on the regional and international security map. He underscored the organization’s value in supporting security professionals in Abuja and commended the expanding community of experts committed to excellence, continuous learning, and networking for the common goal of ensuring safety.

In his keynote address, retired Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa, National Coordinator of the Counter Terrorism Center in the Office of the National Security Adviser, emphasized the necessity for increased private sector involvement in advancing national security. Speaking on the theme, “Reflecting on 2023: A Retrospective View of Evolving Threats Landscape in Nigeria,” Musa underscored the importance of embedding national security values in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs within the private sector.
