The intervention by Dr. Matawalle occurred amidst concerns over the non-payment of December salaries during the festive season, underscoring the critical nature of the issue. Dr. Matawalle collaborated with the Accountant General of the Federation, and together, they effectively partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to expedite the resolution of the delay in salary payments.

Contrary to some earlier reports, the Ministry confirmed that salary payments have already commenced. Dr. Bello personally reached out to the authorities responsible for salary disbursement, ensuring that military officers can now enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones, as their salaries are being deposited into their accounts.

Expressing gratitude to the relevant authorities for the swift payment following his intervention, Dr. Matawalle commended the Military for their unwavering dedication and commitment to their duties despite the initial challenges in receiving their December salaries.
