JUST IN: Schools In Barkin-Ladi Endure Five-Year Terrorist Occupation, Says Mutfwang....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has revealed that terrorists have maintained control over schools in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area for a staggering five years. Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Mutfwang expressed his disappointment with the lack of political will from the Federal Government to dislodge the terrorists operating in Plateau….
The governor raised concerns about the escalating crisis in Plateau, attributing it to the absence of arrests by security agents. He particularly highlighted the unfortunate simultaneous attacks on more than 15 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas during Christmas Eve. These attacks have reportedly claimed over 115 lives, with numerous injuries and hundreds of houses set ablaze.
Mutfwang emphasized the urgent need to halt the ongoing violence, calling for a proactive rather than a reactionary security strategy. He disclosed the alarming situation in Barkin-Ladi, where schools have been occupied by terrorists for several years, leading to the displacement of at least 64 communities.
Expressing his determination to address the issue, Mutfwang announced his intention to approach President Bola Tinubu, urging clear instructions to security agents to protect the people on the Plateau against land-grabbing attackers. He emphasized the importance of constitutional means in acquiring land, advocating for peaceful negotiations instead of resorting to violence.
The governor warned that violent land acquisition could lead to a dangerous tipping point, resulting in large-scale conflicts. He stressed the need for arrests and prosecutions in connection with past attacks to dispel the perception that attackers are being protected. Mutfwang lamented the prolonged occupation of schools, noting the relocation of students and the abandonment of primary healthcare centers over the past three to five years.
