According to a statement issued by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, the injured victims and the truck driver were promptly transported to the General Hospital in the vicinity for urgent medical attention. The State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit dispatched an ambulance for this purpose, while officers from the Ile-Epo Police Division ensured security coverage until the overturned truck was fully cleared from the road to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Acting General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki, took the opportunity to appeal to all drivers to adhere to prescribed speed limits, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving practices.
The statement highlighted the details of the incident, explaining that the sand diesel truck lost control and overturned due to reckless driving, engaging in a right-of-way dispute with another heavily loaded containerized trailer heading towards Iyana-Ipaja Bridge. LASTMA officials from Zone 16, led by Salau Akeem (Alfa), conducted the rescue operation, while the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit’s ambulance transported the injured individuals to the General Hospital for immediate medical attention.
The presence of police officers from the Ile-Epo Police Division ensured a secure environment until the overturned truck was completely removed from the road, allowing for the unimpeded flow of vehicular traffic. The incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
