The Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Francis Akubueze, issued a statement yesterday announcing the postponement. The statement expressed regrets for any inconvenience caused to the Distinguished Senators and clarified that the plenary session, originally scheduled for December 29th, 2023, at 10:00 am, will now take place on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at the same time.
It is noteworthy that President Tinubu had presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill, amounting to a total aggregate expenditure of N27.5 trillion, before the National Assembly. He also outlined the administration’s commitment to adopting the “revised 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP)” as the guiding parameters for the 2024 budget. Additionally, President Tinubu disclosed the administration’s goal to achieve a minimum economic growth of 3.76 percent, surpassing the projected world average.
The President, while labeling the N27.5 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill as the “budget of renewed hope,” pledged to revamp the nation’s internal security architecture. This overhaul aims to enhance law enforcement capabilities, ultimately ensuring the protection of lives, property, and investments throughout the country.
