The injured individuals were promptly rushed to the General Hospital in Badagry before the arrival of the fire service. A source revealed that the station was involved in the illegal sale of fuel intended to be smuggled out of the country, leading to a sudden explosion.

The fire inflicted damage on a portion of the station before the Lagos Fire Service arrived at the scene. According to Mr. Isaac Dossa, the Station Head of Badagry Fire Service, they received an emergency call at 1:15 a.m. and were on-site by 1:25 a.m. The fire was successfully extinguished by 3:55 a.m. on the same day.

Dossa mentioned that most of the fire incident victims had already been taken to the general hospital before their arrival. At the hospital’s emergency unit, four men with various injuries were observed, receiving treatment for their wounds. Relatives anxiously gathered at the hospital entry, seeking information about the well-being of their loved ones.

Dr. Olatunde Bakare, the Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed that the victims were brought in around 1:30 a.m. He assured that the medical staff promptly attended to them, and the injured individuals are currently under treatment at the hospital’s emergency unit. The incident sheds light on the dangers associated with fuel-related activities and exposes an alleged fuel smuggling operation at the filling station.
