Tense TV Moment: Orji Kalu Clashes With Seun Okinbaloye During Live Interview

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, clashed with journalist Seun Okinbaloye during a live television interview on Wednesday over questions relating to Nigeria’s economy and the policies of the immediate past administration.

The exchange became tense as Kalu responded to questions on the economic decisions of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, particularly the printing of money, which has been widely linked to rising inflation.

While defending the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu, Kalu argued that the previous administration also took policy decisions that had significant implications for the country’s economy.

According to the senator, the Buhari administration had forward-sold part of Nigeria’s crude oil production and also printed money, actions he said attracted criticism at the time.

As Okinbaloye continued to press him for further clarification on the economy, Kalu objected to the line of questioning, accusing the journalist of attempting to intimidate him during the interview.

“You can’t harass me. This is no longer an interview,” the former governor said as the discussion grew increasingly heated.

Meanwhile, Kalu also declared that he would leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu ever disrespected the Catholic Church or members of the political opposition.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former Senate Chief Whip dismissed claims that President Tinubu had insulted the Catholic Church following recent exchanges involving presidential aides and the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan.

Kalu maintained that the President enjoys a cordial relationship with the Catholic Church, noting that Tinubu has consistently engaged with and granted audiences to leaders of the Christian denomination.
