Plateau State is once again in the grip of fear as terrorists have issued a chilling threat to launch new attacks on the Pushit community in Mangu Local Government Area. The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, Stanley Kavwam, confirmed this alarming development during an appearance on an Arise TV program….CONTINUE READING
According to Kavwam, the terrorists conveyed their intentions through a letter, forewarning of an imminent assault scheduled for the 29th of December. He revealed that similar letters had preceded previous attacks, creating a pattern of intimidation in the region.
This unsettling revelation comes merely four days after a group of audacious gunmen wreaked havoc in 17 communities on Christmas Eve, resulting in numerous casualties and the destruction of entire communities. The death toll from this heinous attack has climbed to 196 across three local government areas.
BUSHRADIOGIST has learned that the Pushit community is not the only one affected, with at least 149 individuals, including women and children, laid to rest in Bokkos Local Government Area. The bloodshed continued in Barkin Ladi LGA, claiming the lives of 28, while Mangu Local Government Area saw 19 people gunned down, all within a devastating 24-hour period.
The recurrent massacres have raised questions about the identity of the attackers, with a security source revealing that their identities are not concealed. The source implicated certain stakeholders in the state for deliberately hindering the efforts of security personnel, describing the situation as a longstanding issue that requires resolution.
In an interview with Arise TV, Hon Peter Ibrahim Gyendeng, a federal lawmaker representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom in Plateau State, disclosed that they are well aware of the attackers’ identities. He claimed that even security agencies possess this information and acknowledged the perpetrators’ habit of dropping notices before launching their attacks.
The resurfacing of a video clip on social media featured Gyendeng stating, “They are not hidden. The security agencies know them very well. We know where they are coming from, we know where they go when they attack.” Despite this knowledge, the attacks persist, prompting concerns about the effectiveness of security measures and the urgent need for a comprehensive resolution to the ongoing crisis.
