The governor, who laid his father to rest on December 23 in his hometown, Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, had also participated in a Thanksgiving ceremony the following day, just before the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.

Governor Soludo, back in action on December 27, revealed that he had officially approved the 2024 budget. The State House of Assembly had given its approval to the budget shortly before the Christmas break, with no modifications.

In his statement announcing the budget’s enactment into law, Soludo remarked, “Today, I signed the 2024 Appropriation Bill into Law. By this, we are now empowered to implement its provisions for the 2024 fiscal year to the benefit of ndi Anambra.”

He went on to highlight that on November 21, 2023, he had presented a draft budget proposal totaling N410,132,225,272 for the 2024 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. Titled “Changing Gears,” the budget represents a substantial 57.8% increase from the 2023 budget and is strategically focused on advancing efforts across the five pillars of his administration, which include infrastructure and economic transformation, security, law and order, governance and value system, the environment, and social agenda and human capital development.

Expressing gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the budgetary process, especially the Anambra State House of Assembly, Soludo emphasized, “Ours is a goal with a deadline, with the budget now signed into law, we are guaranteed of another huge step towards making our homeland liveable and prosperous.
