The government expressed concern over the use of dubious means by some Nigerians to obtain degrees, aiming to secure job opportunities for which they lack the necessary qualifications. The suspension will remain in effect pending the conclusion of an investigation, involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, the Department of State Security Services (DSS), and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), in collaboration with the authorities of Benin Republic and Togo.
