The faction highlighted specific regions where crime rates are particularly high, citing recent security interventions in Igbeti and Sepeteri, Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, to thwart suspected bandits planning to unleash terror in the area. The statement also emphasized the fears of residents in Ondo State, particularly in Akoko and Igbara Oke, regarding armed herdsmen. Additionally, it drew attention to the heightened anxiety among inhabitants of certain areas in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who now live in fear of kidnappers.

Recognizing the diverse motives behind these criminal acts, Afenifere emphasized the need for tailored strategies to address each specific challenge. As a response, Afenifere proposed the convening of meetings involving local leaders, representatives of youth, religious bodies, artisans, and identified marauders in affected areas. During these gatherings, a “carrot and stick” approach should be employed, combining incentives and deterrents to effectively address the varying motivations behind the unfortunate incidents.
