The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) for the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon Lagos, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, has advocated for the critical utilization of forensic criminal data in conducting investigations. Highlighting the essential role of intelligence-led tools in strengthening investigations, Owohunwa stressed the need for advanced forensic techniques to be an integral part of the investigative process. The department’s spokesperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun, relayed this information in an official statement.

The AIG issued a caution to detectives, advising against resorting to custodial violence. He urged them to uphold citizens’ rights and maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and professional misconduct. Owohunwa underscored that the success of FCID Alagbon depended significantly on the collaborative efforts of sectional heads and detectives. He commended their dedication to upholding professionalism, integrity, and efficiency in investigative processes.

A former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, AIG Owohunwa received a promotion to his current position by the Police Service Commission on October 11, 2023. Subsequently, he was redeployed to FCID Alagbon Lagos to lead and enhance the department’s investigative capabilities.
