Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. In a series of tweets on X, Obi lamented the grim incident, highlighting that it not only underscores the prevalent insecurity plaguing the nation but also exemplifies the apparent helplessness of Nigerians in the face of these escalating dangers. He stressed that this unfortunate event should serve as a wake-up call for leaders to recognize their primary constitutional duty, which is to safeguard the lives of every Nigerian citizen.

Obi expressed deep concern about the expanding reach of insecurity, noting that the occurrence of kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks, even within the nation’s capital, Abuja, reflects the overall deteriorating security situation across the country.

“I am very concerned about how insecurity has continued to ravage every part of our dear nation,” he remarked.

The former Governor of Anambra State called upon the government and security agencies to intensify their efforts to secure the release of the remaining members of the kidnapped family. He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Nabeeha’s soul.
