During a visit by INEC’s election and party monitoring team to the APC’s national secretariat at Buhari House in Abuja on Wednesday, Ganduje emphasized that blame for election violence should not be placed on the electoral umpire, asserting that politicians should be held accountable.

Ganduje, acknowledging the historic nature of the day, stressed the importance of INEC’s visits to political parties for the purpose of gathering essential information, planning, and record-keeping, as mandated by law.

He affirmed the commitment of the APC to transparency and readiness to provide the necessary information, expressing the party’s dedication to becoming a robust institution beyond election periods. Ganduje outlined measures taken by the party, including the directive for all party offices at various levels to be operational throughout the year.

Additionally, the APC has embarked on an initiative to make the party Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant. The party is undertaking e-registration of its members, a move aimed at fostering a stronger partnership with INEC. This digital approach is expected to aid in planning, member identification, and demographic profiling, including age, gender, qualifications, and professions.

Furthermore, Ganduje disclosed plans to establish the National Institute for Progressive Studies to educate party members on the fundamentals of democracy. The goal is to eliminate issues such as hate speech and promote a better understanding of the rules and regulations governing elections.

Ganduje acknowledged that insecurity during elections is a significant concern, attributing it to politicians rather than solely blaming INEC. In response, the APC aims to educate its members on election rules and regulations, fostering a culture of civilized political behavior. The party is committed to continuously educating its members to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines and promote a more informed and responsible political community.
