Dr. Sununu emphasized the imminent completion of the dedicated website for the Student Loan Scheme, which will serve as the primary platform for student applications. He assured that once the website is finalized, students can apply online, and successful applicants will gain access to the loan facility within a reasonable timeframe, estimated to be within 30 days.
President Bola Tinubu initially announced the upcoming Student Loan Programme during the 29th session of the annual Nigeria Economic Summit on October 23, 2023. The President had expressed his commitment to the initiative, stating that it would officially commence in January 2024. With the Minister’s recent statement affirming the progress made, it appears that the government is actively working towards fulfilling this commitment and providing financial support to students through the anticipated loan program.
