Authorities Apprehend Suspected Bandit In Kaduna With Plans To Establish Hideout In Kano Forest
Police authorities in Kano State have apprehended a notorious bandit, Isah Lawal, from Kaduna, and successfully seized 55 cows and 6 sheep from his possession. The statement clarified that Isah Lawal, aged 33, confessed to relocating to Kano with the intention of establishing a new bandits camp in Gwarzo-Karaye Forest. The arrest took place on January 4, 2024, around 5:40 pm, during an intelligence-led Clearance Operation at Karaye LGA, Kano State, along the Kaduna-Kano Border. SP Aliyu Mohammed Auwal led the police operatives responsible for the successful operation.
Lawal, originally from Kaya Village, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State, admitted to fleeing Maidaro Bandits Camp in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna, after the death of their gang leader, Bashir of Malumfashi, Katsina State, in a confrontation with a rival bandit group. The suspect’s relocation to Kano aimed at establishing a new camp in Gwarzo-Karaye Forest.
The police are conducting a discreet investigation, utilizing the valuable information provided by the suspect to address banditry not only in Kano State but also in neighboring states. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, praised the operatives for their dedication and directed the deployment of additional manpower and equipment to all Kano State borders.
