In an interview conducted in Gusau, the state capital, Aminu Garba Gusau, the chairman of the association, revealed that numerous members are grappling with severe economic challenges due to the downturn in the cattle business within the state. The surge in banditry across the northwest region has significantly impacted the buying and selling dynamics of cows, leading to a notable decline in transactions.

Gusau emphasized that the association’s members are now refraining from engaging in the purchase and sale of cattle suspected to be rustled in the state. He pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to curb the activities of cattle rustlers, asserting the law-abiding nature of their members and issuing warnings against any involvement in illicit practices. Offenders, he stressed, would be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Highlighting proactive measures, Gusau mentioned the deployment of association members to monitor business activities in various cattle markets across the state. These members act as vigilant watchdogs, promptly alerting security personnel to any suspicious transactions. He assured the public that concerted efforts are underway to eradicate the selling or buying of rustled cattle in their markets, expressing confidence in a positive impact on revenue generation for the state government.

In conclusion, the Zamfara State chapter of the Association of Cattle Dealers is determined to collaborate with security agencies, enforce stringent measures against illicit activities, and restore confidence in the cattle business by ensuring the safety and legitimacy of transactions within the state.
