Sources within the university disclosed that the motive behind her suicide was attributed to her dissatisfaction with academic performance. Rashidat’s lifeless body was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) but was declared dead on arrival.

The late student had expressed distress over her academic struggles, which ultimately led her to take this drastic step. As a final year student at the university, Rashidat’s unfortunate demise has left the academic community in shock.

Her family members, along with university staff, laid her to rest at the Muslim Cemetery in the Osere area of Ilorin metropolis. Despite attempts to obtain a reaction from the university’s spokesperson, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, there has been no response as of the time of this report. The circumstances surrounding Rashidat Shittu’s tragic death underscore the importance of mental health awareness and support within educational institutions.
