A fire erupted late Thursday night, ravaging a section of the Ọgbọ Osisi Market (plank market) in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, informed reporters that police officers, under the leadership of a divisional police officer, were actively addressing the situation.
He also noted the assistance of several benevolent individuals in extinguishing the fire.
“Our officers, led by the DPO, are working alongside community members to contain the fire. Additionally, the fire service has been alerted, and the situation is under observation.
“At present, there are no reported casualties, and the extent of property damage is yet to be assessed.
“Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds,” he stated.
