NSA Initiates Worldwide Search After Binance Executive Escapes Custody....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has issued a plea to the public and international community to provide any information aiding law enforcement agencies in locating Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Executive Manager of Binance for the African region. Anjarwalla recently absconded from detention, prompting a manhunt by authorities.

Zakari Mijinyawa, Head of Strategic Communication at ONSA, disclosed that Anjarwalla, who holds British and Kenyan citizenship, and serves as Binance’s Africa regional manager, had been undergoing trial in Nigerian courts for alleged involvement in money laundering and terrorism financing activities facilitated through the Binance platform.

Anjarwalla managed to escape while under a 14-day remand order by a Nigerian court and was expected to appear before the court again on April 4, 2024. The escape prompted swift action from ONSA, collaborating with security agencies and Interpol to secure an international arrest warrant.

Preliminary investigations suggest Anjarwalla fled Nigeria using a smuggled passport. Those responsible for his custody have been detained, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of his escape.

Anjarwalla’s escape occurred on March 22, 2024, from a guest house in Abuja where he and a colleague were detained. It is reported that security personnel allowed him to visit a nearby mosque during Ramadan, during which he fled. Anjarwalla, along with another Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, faced allegations of tax evasion and other charges upon their arrival in Nigeria on February 26, 2024.

Binance has acknowledged Anjarwalla’s escape but emphasized its focus on the safety of its employees and cooperation with Nigerian authorities to resolve the matter. Efforts to contact Anjarwalla or his family have been unsuccessful.

Legal actions against Anjarwalla and Binance include charges of tax evasion and failure to comply with Nigerian tax regulations. The Nigerian government alleges that Binance facilitated transactions totaling over $21.6 billion by Nigerian traders, concealing their identities and enabling illicit activities such as money laundering and terrorist financing.
