Delta Community Faces Military Raid 10 Arrested, Houses Demolished....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Amidst escalating tensions in the Delta region following the March 14 killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area, another community, Olota, faced a similar fate as troops reportedly conducted a cordon-and-search operation, resulting in the alleged detention of at least 10 individuals.

Criticism mounted against the Defense Headquarters’ Board of Inquiry tasked with investigating the Okuama incident. Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and retired judges argued that the Board lacked the authority to conduct such an inquiry. Instead, they advocated for either a judicial commission of inquiry established by the federal government or by the Delta State government.

The claim by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) that the Joint Task Force (JTF) included a police component for investigating the murders was met with skepticism. Villagers affected by the military operations urged authorities to allow them to retrieve the bodies of their deceased relatives.

Further calls were made for the military to withdraw from the community and hand over any suspects to the police for proper investigation and legal proceedings. The Urhobo Renaissance Society emphasized the urgency of reining in the military’s actions and restoring order in the region.
