The Nigerian media community is in mourning following the passing of Rotimi Sankore, a highly respected journalist and expert in development data. Kadaria Ahmed, CEO of RadioNow 95.3FM, conveyed the somber news via a heartfelt message on Facebook.

In her tribute, Ahmed portrayed Sankore as not only an outstanding journalist but also a compassionate individual deeply committed to Nigeria’s welfare. She praised his expertise in data analysis, describing him as unparalleled in his ability to decipher complex information and foresee potential outcomes. Sankore dedicated considerable effort to ensuring that government officials, policymakers, and the public comprehended the significance of data in shaping decisions and policies.

As a Development and Policy Expert, Journalist/Journalism Trainer, and Human Rights Advocate, Sankore left an indelible mark on the field. He served as the Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Africa Centre for Development Journalism, where he provided communication support to organizations striving for positive change across Africa. Additionally, Sankore’s journalistic endeavors spanned continents, and he held the position of Editorial Board Chair at Nigeria Info Radio Group, which comprises 13 stations nationwide.
