Sylvester Oromoni’s Death Attributed To Parental Negligence By Coroner’s Inquest; Five Students Found Not Guilty....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In the examination into the passing of Dowen College student Sylvester Oromoni, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri has determined that the 12-year-old’s demise was due to natural causes. After a prolonged session of over six hours, the coroner attributed the young boy’s death to a regrettable combination of parental and medical neglect. It was found that Oromoni succumbed to sepsis resulting from lung and kidney infections stemming from an ankle injury.

“The loss of the deceased could have been prevented if not for the negligence of the parents and PW 3, who failed to seek medical attention until the day of his passing on November 30, 2021. The deceased endured unnecessary pain and suffering that could have been avoided,” stated the Coroner.

Magistrate Kadiri absolved several Dowen College students implicated in the incident, asserting they bore no responsibility for Sylvester’s death and should not have been implicated. He urged Dowen College management to implement better monitoring of student movements in and out of the hostel, along with comprehensive psychological assessments for the five students suspected of mistreating the deceased.

Expressing condolences, Kadiri extended sympathy to the bereaved family and friends, praying for divine solace in their time of loss.

Sylvester Oromoni Jr. passed away on November 30, 2021, at a Warri private hospital following alleged health complications at Dowen College, Lagos. Following his demise, the Lagos State Government closed the school and initiated a coroner’s inquest to elucidate the circumstances surrounding his death. Oromoni’s parents contended that their son, while on his deathbed, implicated certain schoolmates in bullying incidents, alleging that his injuries from the bullying went untreated by the school.
