Clarification Issued: Recent Aviation Incident Not A Crash Landing, NCAA Confirms....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has dispelled rumors of a Dana Air plane crash at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport, clarifying it as a runway excursion incident involving a McDonald Douglas (MD-83) aircraft with registration 5N-BKI. Emphasizing it as a serious incident, the NCAA asserts it was not a crash landing but rather a runway excursion. Mike Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA,

confirmed the involvement of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) in investigating the occurrence. According to Achimugu, the incident’s nature is evident from the images, emphasizing the distinction between a “serious incident” and an accident.

Aviation consultant Babatunde Adeniji explained that a runway excursion occurs when an aircraft veers off or overruns the runway, highlighting the need to await official investigation reports rather than speculate. In unrelated news, Rihanna expressed regret over past nudity appearances, while Nigerian students launched a healthcare startup for the elderly. Additionally, concerns over the forex crisis and updates on legal proceedings involving a detained Binance executive were featured. The opinions expressed in the comments section do not represent Vanguard newspapers or its employees.
