Chairman of ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, revealed this during a briefing held in Lagos yesterday. The tracking efforts primarily targeted key sectors including education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure, spanning across 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

The Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Group (CEPTG) has successfully tracked the aforementioned sum across 176 MDAs since its inception in 2019, Aliyu disclosed. He emphasized that this initiative aims to ensure that government funds are allocated towards impactful projects benefitting the most vulnerable Nigerians.

The phase 6 tracking, initiated in November 2023 and continued through the first quarter of this year, remains ongoing, the ICPC chairman stated. He reassured Nigerians of ICPC’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and international best practices in the investigation and prosecution of individuals suspected of corrupt practices.

The CEPTG, established in April 2019 as a preventive and intervention measure, seeks to combat corruption and promote good governance, transparency, and accountability within the nation. It primarily focuses on assessing the utilization of funds allocated to critical sectors by the government.

Highlighting the findings from the Phase 6 tracking, the chairman mentioned that a total of 1,721 government-funded projects were scrutinized during this cycle.
